Credits: 3
Key Skills: Psychological measurement, psychological assessment, educational measurement, educational assessment, test administration and interpretation, analysis of ethical and legal considerations
Description: Psychological testing may seem like an intimidating term, but it functions much like medical testing and is designed to help people. Just as a doctor uses tests to diagnose physical symptoms, psychologists use assessments and measurements to diagnose a variety of issues. These include learning disabilities, emotional disorders such as anxiety or depression, and many other conditions.
This course provides an overview of psychological and educational assessment procedures used in counseling. Specifically, students have the opportunity to review, analyze, and practice using educational assessments like aptitude and career assessments, and psychological assessments like substance abuse and mental health assessments, intelligence and personality assessments, and interests and values assessments.
